Growing up, I considered myself a fairly strong athlete. I played baseball, football, run a marathon, half marathon, worked out in traditional gyms and even tried boxing for a while. Then I discovered crossfit. After a few conversations with Max, he invited me to come down for a simple, 5 minute workout to gauge my athletic ability. Those were the toughest and best 5 minutes of my fitness life. Some rowing and a few box jumps pointed out that I needed crossfit south county.
eight months later, I’m stronger, lighter, faster and mentally tough. Max and his team not only coach you through the workouts by ensuring proper form and technique, but they have taught me how to be mentally tough and push through the fatigue or the desire to “give up” when a workout gets exceptionally hard. This is something that plays a role in all areas of my life… and I’m sure the other members would say the same. Between the coaches and the team and community atmosphere, each and every workout brings new challenges, goals, and a sense of accomplishment when you look around the room and see a group of people pushing themselves to new heights – even at 5am.

Nathan Miller-
I started training at CrossFit South County in March of 2008 and I am
incredibly happy to have found this great affiliate.  Since starting
my training at CFSC, I have made gains in all aspects of my fitness.
I'm stronger, quicker, have greater endurance and am a better all
around athlete.  It's like night and day when I look back at where I
was in 2008 and compare it to where I am now.

Outside of hard work, the amazing coaching from Caleb, Max and Paul at
CFSC is one of the major reasons for my progress.  The coaches at CFSC
never dwell or focus on what you can't do; they focus on what you can
do and how you can use it to build to bigger and better things.  They
don't accept excuses and will go the extra mile to ensure that you
improve.  If you have a question, they will do their best to answer
it.  If you want to improve a specific skill, they will work with you
to do it even if it means staying after a class.  One of my favorite
things about CFSC is the fact that the coaches truly care about
helping you achieve your goals.

During my time at CFSC I have been fortunate enough to see the
incredible amount of effort Max has put into building CFSC as an
affiliate and as a community.  There was a time in the past when the
only equipment we had was an empty room, some kettle bells and jump
ropes.  Yet Max pushed on undeterred and still came up with
challenging workouts.  I feel that Max's dedication to CFSC and it's
students has led to a warm and accepting community that I am proud to
be a member of.

Prior to joining Crossfit South County, I consistently attended a “globo” gym where I systematically went through the same routines never realizing any notable gains or improvement.  A friend suggested I try Crossfit, so I looked up the nearest affiliate and drove down to CFSC to checkout a Crossfit workout (not participate, just watch).  That particular day the “WOD” was Fight Gone Bad and I witnessed a small group of men and women push themselves, and each other, through this brutal workout.  It was a pretty intimidating sight, I thought to myself “holy sh!t, I don’t think I can keep up with these people”.  After the class was over, almost all of the exhausted members introduced themselves to me and genuinely encouraged me to give this program a try.  The friendly atmosphere and the obvious camaraderie among classmates quickly eased my skepticism and intimidation.

I’ve been a member of Crossfit South County for nearly a year now and it’s difficult to summarize all the benefits I’ve received from this program and in such time.....I’m now 15lbs lighter, stronger, faster, more fit, and ultimately happier & more self confident.  The trainers at CFSC, and their group oriented approach, have fostered an awesome sense of community.  I’ve learned that working out as a group versus individually instills accountability, which leads to results.  There have been so many times when I’ve wanted to quit a workout only to see a classmate next to me trying his or her heart out, which forces you to keep going.

I am sincerely grateful and thankful that I found Crossfit South County.  Max, Paul, Caleb, and the CFSC members have had such a positive impact on me and have genuinely improved my health, fitness, and my quality of life.

I went from nothing to walking to kick boxing to now CrossFit . At 46 years of age I feel better than when I was in my twenties, "Really!" One day, three years ago I asked god to help me get fit. I wrote it down because I was tired of being weak and very close to a plastic surgeon to remove my excess body fat. I couldn't even carry my own luggage at the air port with out a hassle! Then the desire to live a healthier lifestyle actively grew. I started with kickboxing, it was terrible the first month, but it soon became challenging and a habit.

I knew it was time to move up to something a little more challenging, I was soon introduced to CrossFit. I didn't know if I could do it or even adhere to the program. Well, I asked for it and today..I love it!

Crossfit has been my most valuable investment or one anyone could do in their lifetime. I want to thank max for his dedication, his unshakable work ethic, his constant vigilance in ensuring everyone uses proper technique and especially his confident in all of us.

Exciting, challenging, liberating, motivating, intense, powerful...just a few words out of the many that sum up the effect Crossfit has had on my life. I have been an addict of Crossfit for over a year. My first class at Crossfit South County consisted of about 8 guys and one other girl. I thought to myself “I must be crazy and way out of my league!” Not having a strong fitness background made me intimidated but the energy and enthusiasm from everyone in the group pumped me up and got me determined to go through with the workout. During the workout the constant motivation from others pushed me to the finish. I walked away from my first Crossfit class feeling great (and exhausted), but most importantly, feeling proud that I was able to accomplish such a challenging workout. It was that feeling that has made me continuously come back for more. I am extremely grateful to be a part of a fitness community that constantly displays dedication, devotion and strength, both physically and mentally. I have my fitness strengths and I have my challenges and at Crossfit South County there is that feeling of encouragement and drive from others that help me set my goals high and work hard in accomplishing them. I thank Max for introducing me to a program that excites me and has truly directed me to a better and healthier life.

CrossFit, and especially CrossFit South County, has absolutely changed my life - made me stronger, leaner and more mentally tough than I've ever been. I've tried almost every fitness regimen - personal training, pilates, yoga, kickboxing, spin, group classes and more and while these are all fine, nothing compares to the transformation I have made with CrossFit. But, the greatest accomplishment just happened - I never thought I would be able to get my wedding dress on again - but this morning, I did! (And without the Spanky pants!)  Not only does it fit, it's looser than it was when I got married five years and one child, ago. I'm so proud of myself and incredibly grateful for my CrossFit coaches - this is one thing I'm happy to be addicted to!
